| APRIL 2010 SEASON OPENER FUN FLY |
| April 18th, 2010 by Dave Anderson |
| |
It was gorgeous weather, just the
kind of day you like to see when starting out for the flying season!
Everybody showed up on time and Contest Director Randy Boardman held
his pilot's meeting on-time for seven different flyers, including an
upstart newcomer/visitor Mike Engermeier!
|
Judges this year for the first Fun
Fly were Ted Atmore and Ed Weiss. Together, they evaluated
five different events, from the popular bean drop, and bomb drop, to
the limbo and "X Marks the Spot" stunts.
|
| Stuart Hall flew his "Big Stick"
quite well. Luis Munoz almost won the whole thing ( as usual )
with his "Trish What's It." Dave Yardas flew his "Hot Knife"
and John Koethe piloted his large "Can Do." Even Tom Koon got
in the action as he flew his Four Star .40. Mike Engermeier
flew his Weaver profile stunt plane, and Randy managed to fly his plane
while orchestrating the whole day! |
We had many visitors that day, including Marvin Case from the Battle
Ground Newspaper "The Reflector." Marvin took many pictures
and received a Masters' Degree in model airplanes as he spent almost
two hours talking to many of the fliers. We should see an
article in the newspaper real soon. |
| |
Over thirty people attented the
event, and the fliers and visitors alike had a great time. No
airplanes were lost, which put the icing on a wonderful time.
Mike Engermeier, visiting from the Fern Prairie club, took home the
honors as top flier.
Thanks Randy! Good job!
|
| As sometimes happens, this webmaster
lost all the pictures I took that day due to camera failure! (
Which is EXACTLY why I call myself a 'web-amateur!') !!
I was rescued by the editor of the Reflector, Marvin Case, who
graciously forwarded these pictures in replacement. Please
enjoy these few shots, and thanks Marvin! |
