announces a special event:

Start Time: Pilot's Meeting at 8:45, competition starts at 9 AM

THERE WILL BE AN ENTRY FEE OF $15.00 OR $10.00 IN SMALL TOYS AND FOOD SNACKS AND $5.00. $5.00 OF EVERY ENTRY WILL BE AWARDED BACK TO THE WINNING PILOTS

WE WILL ALSO HAVE BURGERS AND HOT DOGS AVALABLE AT LUNCH FOR A SMALL FEE.

THE MOTHER OF ONE OF OUR CLUB MEMBERS WILL BE GOING TO HAITI THIS NOVEMBER AS PART OF A MEDICAL TEAM TO ASSIST IN THE CARE OF THE CHILDREN OF HAITI AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE. THE ENTRY FEE WILL BE USED TO BUY SMALL TOYS AND FOOD SNACKS FOR THE CHILDREN AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN SEEN BY THE MEDICAL TEAM.

THE EVENTS:

1. TOUCH AND GOES: THE MOST YOU CAN DO IN 2 MINUTES AND TOTAL POINTS FOR LANDING IN POINT ZONES.

2. JOLLY GREEN GIANT BEAN FLIGHT. DETAILS AT THE EVENT.

3. TIMED FLIGHT WE WILL TELL YOU HOW LONG TO FLY. CLOSEST TO EXACT TIME WINS

4. YOUR CHOICE OF THE FIRST 3

The Fun Fly commenced on that Saturday as scheduled, with eight club members prepared to do battle in this last clup-organized event of this season. In addition, the event brought in about twenty-five other club members and various spectators. Sandy Strader was there with a couple of friends to grill up the burgers and hot dogs which proved to be very popular, and Cathy Agar was there as our unofficial photographer.
The weather was nice - brisk, about 45 degrees with a small breeze coming up, but it didn't deter the fliers at all. The pilots' meeting started right at 08:45 AM, and the competition began as friends all 'round the field munched on the fresh doughnuts provided.

Competition fliers this day included Carter Strader, Luis Munoz, Tom Koon, John Shirron, Dave Agar, Ted Atmore, Frank Williams and Randy Boardman. Well, organized, the fliers went throught the paces with no mishaps, loss of airplanes or other issues, other than a couple of hard landings requiring minor fixes to the planes on the tables.

In the end, Luis took the honors of winning the events, even as Carter was able to challenge him in a tie on the timed landing event. Frank Williams earned second place, with Carter and John sharing the third spot.

Sandy tells us that the final total for charity was $300 cash, and several boxes and bags of toys and snacks for the children. She will easily be able to make up 100 goodie bags and still have toys and goodies to give out. Dave Agar also donated a 6# bag of candy which will be a huge hit!

Good job Carter, Dave Agar, Sandy and all who helped in this fun event!
