Club secretary and long-time R/C enthusiast Dave Agar has announced plans for the annual event, conducted at the CCRCS club field at the fairgrounds.

This year's annual event is dedicated to the sons of several club members, including Tom's son, now serving in Iraq, and Dave's son, serving in the Army.

All pilot's family members and the general public is invited to attend as spectators.  The competition is open to all club members, and guests with AMA membership.  All aircraft need to be a scale model plane representing a real plane from any military conflict, from any era.  Electric or nitro models are welcome.

This year's event will include a door prize for pilots and the spectators, and a there will be BBQ will be on site, hosted by club member Larry Tate.

The entry fee will be $15.00, or $10.00 and a large bag of candy that won't melt in shipment to the troops - like hard candy.  $5.00 of every entry fee will be given back to the winner of the door prize.

The pilots meeting will be held at 8:45 sharp, and flying starts at 9 AM. The event will conclude at 1 PM with the door prizes.

The Support the Troops Fly In was once again a huge success. The weather was one of the best days that we have had in quite some time, with the sun shining and no wind. Pilots were on site at 7:30 getting ready and at 8:45, we had 23 pilots ready to fly. Once again, we had plenty of spectators as well as some folks that wanted to test fly a plane. Louis and I put up a couple of trainers and hopefully everyone that wanted to try RC got the chance. Tom Oneal had his PT-19 that had a white cowl on it that was being signed by members of our Armed Services. There were a number of names on it so I am thinking that the cowl is now a collectors item, as it is quite a unique thought. Tom Koons had everyone watching his beautifully scaled out B-25. He and his crew flew a couple of missions with her and all watched as this is one pretty impressive airplane. I am not sure how many flights were flown, but there was not one moment of down time and we needed spotters at times. There were close to 75 airplanes on the field ready to fly. Once again we had a lunch that was off the hook as they say. Ed and Linda Wiese cooked all mourning, Sandy Strader, Kate Black, along with some of the nursing staff from Southwest Washington Medical served all day, and a huge thanks to Phil Strader for making the grocery store runs to get what we forgot. This year we were blessed with Chili for chili dogs and burgers and with some home made cookies that were mouth watering. John Shirrone came through once again with a top notch raffle. Dick Teason won the big prize, but some of the visitors won prizes as well. The big winner in the pilots awards was Clay Cleveland. Once again an event of this nature cannot come together without the support of the club members that make things happen and participate. This is a joint effort and everyone should be proud of what we have done. I am on the road for the next couple of weeks, so when I return, I will be boxing up and mailing out the candy that was donated and the candy that I will be buying. The importance of supporting our troops was really brought home to me yesterday. One on my son's best friends and a young man that I am friends with was injured and is now in Germany being treated. Information is sketchy about his condition, so please all, say a prayer for all our troops. I will be saving a box of candy for this young man and I will deliver it myself on behalf of the club when he gets home. If you know anyone that is serving in our Armed Forces and would like to see them get a box of candy, email me an address. Once again, thanks to all for a great day and a great day. See you next year!
