EVENT RECAP POSTED 10/9/11
We enjoyed a break in the weather for some excellent flying!  The rain stopped for the day, beautiful clouds filled the air against a backdrop of an excellent poweder blue sky.   Eleven registered fliers enjoyed the perfectly calm waters, and the competitiion provided my CCRCS club member Luis proved to be very popular as well.  It was great to see a couple of fliers from the Portland Sky Knights RC club with us as well.

The competition consisted of a timed first event that tested pilot skills with maneuvers such as rolls, loops and Cuban 8 acrobatics.  The second event was an elasped time event.  Seven fliers participated in the competition, with Nelson Scott taking the top honors.  Other participants, in order of the placement, included Luis Munoz, Dave Anderson, Dale McDonald, Jason Webberley, Corky Ronalder, and Jim Ott.

Congratulations to all the particpants, and thanks to the visitors and other fliers that showed up to enjoy the fun!

Corky, Larry and friend posted themselves on a gentle slope just off the water.  Corky flew his Pulse during the day.  Tom O'Rourke kept a low profile, but enjoyed his day as well.
Randy, Jeremy, and John talk over the finer aspects of controlled flight.  For some inexplicable reason, J & J decided it was best if they held down two red chairs that seemed to be abandoned! The Mulitplex Fun Cubs are storming the RC world.  Here Dave and Luis show off their own customized versions.

Jason flew a beautiful, but borrowed Cub on some really nice floats.  Working through some hestitant engine issues at the start of the day, he showed it off with some really nice pattern flying and expert water handling. Jim Ott ( from the Portland Sky Knights) shows off his Norseman.  It's a beautiful bird with some exceptional detailing, including cabin ladders and dock cleats.  With a 100 Saito, it sounds nice too!

Dale (also from Sky Knights) brought along his extremely maneauverable What's It.  This thing was made for the water, and treated us with some pretty amazing and fast acrobatics. CCRCS' own Randy Boardman showed up with a new biplane fitted with floats.  He was disappointed with the overall performance, but it sure looked cool in flight!

In this shot, Nelson brings his What's It in for another taxi to shore.

Another shot of Jim's Norseman on the water. . . . nice!   Nelson's bird is on taxi.
Clay Cleveland brought along his seaplane.  It had some issues getting off the water, but it had some nice flights on her once in the air. Luis shows the underside of his ever-present What's It, lovingly named for his wife, Trish.  This plane is a real survivor, on or off floats!
Good shot of Nelson's What's It. Nelson showed up late for the competition, but was allowed to play catch up.  Is it fair he won the whole thing anyway??  Judges????!!!!
Nelson retrieves his bird after another successful flight. Jason brings his Cub in for a landing.
Jason's Cub again.  Note the smooth water - made for a great water landing day! One more shot of Jason's cub.
