Well, of
course, you can shop where you like, but consider these ideas:
When we shop from our local vendors, we support those folks who
support us, and the next time we need something, or have a special
request, having a personal relationship with your local vendors
really works well.
You can find good deals on Craig's List, of course, but how
wonderful is it to walk into a hobby shop and see all the planes on
display in all their beauty? You can touch, feel, appraise,
and haggle with the vendor right there in his shop!
I've shopped for planes on Craig's List, and I've had success, but
what I typically find is models that are generally overpriced,
details are sparce or inaccurate, you might have problems contacting
the seller, and the last time I bought, I had to meet the seller in
Portland on my lunch break!
Instead, consider this: Our vendors are ready to sell.
They have a multitude of planes on consignment that allows you to
find the perfect plane for your experience or needs at a great
price! You know who you're buying it from, and you can trust
them! They come from fliers who are fliers like us, they sell
for the right reasons! My last purchase just this week was a
Great Planes Cherokee, fully assembled, OS 46 motor, all the servos
installed, and a 4-channel Futaba radio system for $225!! The
plane is in perfect condition, and has made a very nice addition to
my hanger!
Come back and check this space soon for updates on consignments
around the local area. Talk to Tony or Tony Jr at Island
Hobbies - they have some wonderful 1/4 scale planes there.
Todd has planes to sell at Hobbytown USA, and our friend Frank has
some pretty neat stuff at Ted's Hobbies. You'll find their
contact information on our "Essential Links" page.
In the meantime, I hope to post pictures and prices here soon so you
may see what they have and browse right here.
Also, if you have a plane or hanger queen you're ready to sell, I
hope you'll let me know with an email and we'll get it posted!
Safe skies, my friends!
