The second photo shows the cut outs for the engine head, muffler, and prop.  I also had to cut the back edge fo the cowl to make it look like an L-19 cowl.  I made the needed measurements and I like to use tape as a guide for my Dremel tool as I cut it.

For all the holes I drill a hole and use my Dremel with a sanding drum. If you do it this way, just so "Safety Tom" won't get on my case, you need a good vacuum and a dust mask as the cowl is fiberglass and sanding generates a lot of dust. It is now primered and drying for a couple of days before the color coat goes on.

As I said, I am working on waiting for parts to dry. I was able to spray the cowl today and now it needs to dry for a few days so that I can apply the black anti glare panel. I still need to finish the cockpit and add the decals to the tail section.  She is getting close!

The OD green dried enough to tape of the anti-glare panel. I used the delicate blue tape, that as Ed Hagerdorn pointed out, is not cheap, but it is the best tape I have ever used in all my years of modeling. I use it to tape off my paint lines and when applying the paper to protect the rest of the cowl, break out the cheap stuff. Just make sure that the cheap stuff does not come in contact with the paint. It will sit for about a week now and then it will get clear coated.

I am on the final steps of completion. I have gotten the pilot and installed and some gauges on the dash, so it looks like a plane.

I am installing the letters and numbers on the tail. I use the blue tape as my straight line for the bottom of the numbers.

I spray on some Windex and then I can slide my numbers into position with no problems at all. I then dab up the excess Windex and I use a piece of balsa sheeting to squeegee out the extra Windex out from under the numbers. Let it dry overnight and the numbers are permanent. I need some wing struts and it is ready for flight.

Got the struts on and it is finished!

Now I can move on to other things!
