A closer look a the wing-fuse join. |
The two halves of the elevator are joined with a carbon tube, using epoxy. |
The balsa stiffener has been glued to the horizontal stab. The tape is where I cut the hinge slots. |
Vertical stabilizer with balsa stiffener and rudder. |
Here the rudder and elevator have been attached to their respective places, and the whole thing is attached to the fuselage. |
This plane comes with a wire tail skid which is sandwiched in between two pieces of light ply and glued in the end of the fuselage. While this works just fine, I opted to upgrade to an aftermarket steerable tail wheel. I like this wheel but would like to (someday!) replace the hard plastic wheel with a rubber one, just to make it quieter on our paved runway! |

The vinyl graphics that come with this kit are just fantastic! Just cut out the graphic and peel the back off to stick! The secret to getting the graphic in just the right spot is to spray the sticky side of the vinyl and the spot where it is to be applied with Windex - this allows you to move the graphic around a little bit. Otherwise, it would stick in the first spot it touched and would be very difficult to move. Using the Windex method is quite easy. After you have adjusted the graphic into the correct spot, use a credit card to scrap out the excess Windex and securely place the graphic in place. |
The right wing graphic applied. |
The left wing graphic applied. |
Complete graphics top, side, and tail. |
I mixed up the graphic on the bottom of the wings just to make orientation a little easier! |
The final bird ready to hit the runway and launch into the air! |
This build is pretty straight forward and only took me 8 to 10
evenings of casual building.
It could easily be completed by someone in a hurry in 2 or 3
days.
Flying: With this power
package, the role out is about 2 feet at full throttle.
Once off the ground, she will rocket to the moon in a very
short time. The power
is insane for the girl!
This plane is the easiest to hover, and for me is the only plane
that I have that almost does a rolling circle by itself.
This bird will do all of the 3D moves and most of the pattern
ship moves with ease.
For me, she is with me every time I go to the airfield.
This one is a winner! |
