Then I stuck the wing and tail on . . .

just to see what she’s going to look like!

                                                                  THE COVERING

First, I must say that the color of this airplane is pink, purple, and black and white checkered.  How did I come up with that color scheme you ask…why my wife of course.  She has been after me to make a pink and purple plane for many years now.  I, of course always came back with something like, “well dear, I’m sorry, but they just don’t make Cubs in pink and purple”.

So the day came when I was planning on making a Fun-Fly plane, the "What’s-It," and thought the color scheme of pink and purple would be ok.  After finishing covering it, I have to admit that the colors do quite well together, and yes, I like it.

I started with the tail feathers first, and then move on to the fuselage.  This gets me back in the groove of covering.  For me, it is easier to cover a flat surface, kind of like practice.  I then tackled the wing.  I did the ailerons first, of course, they're flat!  I then began with the trailing edge of the wing, on the bottom.  I then did the leading edge of the wing on the bottom.  By doing the bottom first, the top covering overlaps the bottom just a little bit making a good seal.

She flies just like most Fun-Fly type of airplanes, very slow, and quick at the same time.  She will do anything you ask of her, and sometimes she’ll do something neat even when you don’t ask her to!  If you slow the controls down, she’d make a good intermediate ship, or crank the controls up for the advanced pilot.  I fly her on floats too.  I have won a couple of small contests with her, but mostly, she makes a good everyday flyer.
