I have added in the wing bolt plate. It is made with 2 pieces of 1/4 inch
plywood glued together.
|
Well all good planes have wing. Here are all the center section parts cut
out and ready for assembly. The wing will take longer to build as all the wing
ribs are different size's and I have to cut out each set, one set at a time.
Once again, I am taping 2 pieces of wood together and cutting out both ribs at
once. The center section has 10 ribs that are all the same. I cut out 10 pieces
of 3/32 inch wood all the same size and pinned them together as well as tape.
Just a little more assurance that the parts will all be the same. The wing is
assembled in 5 different section's yet it has one common spar. |

|
I
have gotten two fifths of the wing roughed together. This is one of the
outer panels and middle panels put together. As I mentioned before, the
wing is 5 pieces with a common spar for the middle and the outer
panels. The lower spar on the outer panel is sweeping up from the
middle section to the tip rib. It makes it really difficult to get all
the ribs aligned
|
I
have now got the bottom sheeting on the wing panel. This will attach to
the center section when it is built It will all be joined together with
the dihedral braces. The aileron and flap servo's will be in the center
section and both will use bell cranks.

I
have installed the bell cranks for the ailerons and the push rod tubes.
I use a 1/8 inch by 18 inch long drill bit to drill all the holes in
the ribs for the push rod tube. These bits are available at the
Home Depot. I have also installed some hinge blocks for the ailerons.
|
I am not sure how the flaps will be working yet, however some hinge
blocks will also be needed when I decide on how I am going to do it.
The plans show making hinges out of plywood which I may just try.
