Well
after a short Thanksgiving vacation, it is back to it. I have gotten
the wing center section built and mounted to the left side. I also have
the right side framed and am getting it ready to attach to the center
section as well.
|
I still have to ad the wing
mounting plate to the front of the center section, however I am going
to do that later on, just to make sure that the wing fits correctly on
the fuse. |

|
Well
with the rain, I have had a lot of time to build. I now have all 5
sections of the wing built and together. The bottom has been sheeted
with 1/16 inch balsa. I am thinking that I should have sheeted with
3/32 as the 1/16 seems a bit soft. I might do the top in 3/32.
|
I
have the aileron servo and cable installed out to the bell cranks. I am
using the Dubro aileron connector and the ends have been silver
soldered onto the cable.
|

|

|
I
have the tubes installed in the sheeting for the push rods to go
from the bell cranks to the ailerons. The flap servo is shown where it
gets mounted. I have to build the flaps and figure out how they are
going to work. They not only go down, but they also go towards the back
of the plane and down.
|
The
plans show a hinge design, so I might give that a try. The
ailerons are standard aileron stock, so all I need to do is cut them
out. I still need to mate the wing to the fuselage and add the dowel
plate on the front of the wing.

|
| I now have one flap built and installed and almost have one side of the
wing complete minus the sheeting. I have used the same bell crank system as the
ailerons, however the flaps have an internal linkage so no control horns are
used.
|
I ended up using the Robart hinge points for the flaps as I could not
come up with a working hinge as shown on the plans.
